Cult cyborg film saga The Terminator is to be reinvented for its fourth outing, according to internet reports.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins will begin production next year ahead of a release in 2009. According to Variety, the writers of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, John Brancato and Michael Ferris, have turned in a script and a deal with a big name director is reportedly very close.
The new film will have an 'event sized' budget, although it is likely to be lower than that of Terminator 3.
Warner Brothers has acquired North American distribution rights for the film.
It is unclear if Arnold Schwarzenegger, now governor of California, will appear in the film, although the producers are hoping for at least a cameo.
Producer Moritz Borman said: "The intention is to present a fresh new world and have this be the first of a trilogy."
