The British Museum has detailed its plans to launch a major global licensing campaign and cement itself as one of the UK’s most iconic institutions.

Famous the world over for its vast collections of art and artefacts, the British Museum is calling for expression of interest from potential agent, to help build its position in the industry.

Boasting over six million visitors each year, the museum is known for its heritage, expertly curated special exhibitions and ability to tell the story of human culture through its collections.

With its eyes firmly on expanding its licensing activity, the British Museum aims to communicate its values to a wider audience, promote its role as a centre that tells the story of cultural achievement across the world, raise awareness of the museum the world over and offer an additional source of funding for the upkeep of its collection.

“This is an incredibly exciting time as we look, through licensing, to share the values and spirit of the British Museum with a global audience,” said Tom Costello, head of retail, British Museum.

“The chosen agent or agents will be central to this process and will become a vital partner in the Museum’s long-term licensing strategy. We very much look forward to welcoming them as part of the team.”
