The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was named Movie of the Year at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards over the weekend.

The sequel's stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, also took home Best Female Performance and Best Male Performance, respectively.

Hosted by Conan O’ Brien and held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, the MTV Movie Awards celebrated the biggest movies to hit screens over the last year.

Alongside its veritable platter of Hollywood heartthrobs and guest appearances, the show also featured new clips from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Having lost out to The Hunger Games for Best Movie, Warner Bros’ The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug did receive the accolade for Best Fight in which Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly faced down a troop of Orcs.

Perhaps the biggest competition of all was between the nominees for Best Hero, in which Man of Steel’s leading man, Henry Cavill, triumphed over Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Martin Freemna’s Bilbo Baggins and Chris Hemworth’s Thor.
