The Wiggles have stepped behind the TV cameras to launch two new properties. Both will be presented at Mipcom next month, with licensing programmes to follow.
The Kingdom of Paramithi and Baby Antonio's Circus have been created by The Wiggles themselves and their production team.
"We are very excited about these new series," said Mike Conway, The Wiggles Pty MD. "We've built on our already successful global brand, while staying true to the educational principles that underpin everything we do.
"Our non-Wiggles branded children's content has the potential to become as globally successful as The Wiggles. It's part of an overall strategic vision for the company that will see innovative content readily available to international audiences."
Already launched in Australia, The Kingdom of Paramithi has its foundations in fairy tales and traditional folk stories. The licensing roll out for the brand is underway in Australia, where the show is embarking on its second live tour. Penguin is due to launch the first books in 2010.
"We've released a number of CDs and DVDs featuring nursery rhymes and dressing up which have been very successful," said Paul Field, MD of The Wiggles Productions. "Broadly speaking, the stories are all about a hero overcoming adversity and that's a good role model for children."
Baby Antonio's Circus, meanwhile, is created and directed by 'Blue Wiggle' Anthony Field. Grown-ups observe Baby Antonio and his friends in the circus and try to copy their actions. First without success, they use teamwork, solve problems and master the circus skills.
