Third series of Skatoony given go ahead

A third series of what Cartoon Network claims is the world's first animated games show, Skatoony, has been commissioned.

The premise of the show is to pit real-life kid contestants against cartoon characters. It first aired on Cartoon Network in November 2006, with series two produced earlier this year and due to air from September 28th.

The news follows hot on the heels of CN striking an international distribution deal with Target Entertainment to represent sales of Skatoony's format and programme rights.

The 13x30-minute series will be animated entirely in-house by Cartoon Network in London. In addition, the firm continues its successful collaboration with Talent Television, the creator of kids' reality show Best of Friends, which will again manage and shoot all live action elements. Talent is also acting as consultant on all international versions of the format.
