Mattel UK is expanding it licensing portfolio for the hit pre-school franchise Thomas and Friends with a new line of baby and infant clothing and accessories.

Making its debut in the pre-school apparel market, the three new ranges will all feature the iconic Thomas and will span babywear, baby products and bedding.

The new baby wear collection features a range of daywear, sleepwear and accessories including dungarees, bodysuits, pyjamas, bibs and sleepsuits.

The line will launch exclusively with Tesco’s this June before going nationwide in September 2016.

Mattel has also teamed with Rainbow Designs to launch a collection of baby products and gifts spanning developmental and activity toys including a Tummy Time Activity Playmat, comfort blanket, chime ball, activity cube and a plush My First Thomas.

Completing the range and Mattel’s Thomas and Friends’ debut in the baby market, a line of bedding will land at retail and will include a sleep bag, cot duvet and a hooded towel.

Simon Price, director licensing, CNE consumer products at Mattel UK, said: “This is an exciting time for Thomas and Friends as this is the first time we have launched collections aimed at babies and infants.

“The three new categories will further strengthen the brand while expanding its licensed range.”
