Over the Moon is one of the few greetings card designers that the retailer works with and several of its card designs have featured in its range over the years. A number of Pip cards sold well last Christmas and this has prompted Thorntons to add to the selection.

The firm also produces Pip-branded stationery and launched a new range of notebooks at Autumn Fair 2009. Kirsty Guthrie, from KJG has recently signed a deal that will see Bluebird Brands develop a range of Pip mugs, coasters, purses, wallets and umbrellas, set to go on sale in spring/summer 2010.

Guthrie commented: “Pip is really starting to establish itself as a brand and we have strong interest from licensees across a range of categories.

“To have a company of Thorntons’ calibre and reputation on board is excellent news and I can’t help thinking that Pip would make a great chocolate lolly.

Pip products are stocked in over 500 outlets, including Fenwicks and John Lewis. Pip also features on and despite only launching on the site in May has since sold nearly 30,000 cards.

The cards are also currently available in France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
