Toy Story trio goes 3D

Popular movie franchise to be rebuilt in 3D ahead of the 2010 release of third instalment.

Walt Disney Studios has revealed ambitious plans to convert Toy Story 1 and 2 into 3D.

The duo will be rebuilt ahead of the release of Toy Story 3 on June 18th 2010. The original 'new look' Toy Story is being mooted for October 2nd 2009, while Toy Story 2 will arrive on February 12th 2010.

Toy Story 3 is currently being produced in 3D.

"We are committed to bringing moviegoers the best and most exciting 3D movie experience, and we think they're going to love seeing Buzz Lightyear, Woody and all the wonderful Toy Story cast of characters in an eye popping and dazzling way," explained Dick Cook, chairman of Walt Disney Studios.

Originally released in 1995, Toy Story was the first movie from Pixar. Toy Story 2 was released in 1999 and reunited the voice talents of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz.
