Transformers’ Optimus Prime took to the road to visit kids at Boxted’s St. Peter’s Primary School earlier this month.

An event held by Smyths Toys, the initiative was part of the on-going celebrations around the cinematic release of Transformers: The Last Knight.

The Transformers Optimus Prime truck and Bumblebee character surprised children at the Boxted school, which was chosen after winning a competition arranged by the franchise-holder Hasbro.

A film crew was in place to record the pupil’s reaction.

Pippa Davies, a teacher at St. Peter’s Primary School, said: “It was quite a surprise and a very exciting day. The children didn’t know anything about it, but the parents and staff did and the excitement built up – the adults were just as excited as the pupils.”

Amy Matthews, events and PR executive at Smyths Toys, added: “We were delighted to be able to pull off the surprise; it was great to see so many smiling faces.

“We are really excited about the new Transformers movie and the range of toy we have in-store so it was great to be able to share that excitement with our customers by surprising them with a visit from the Optimus Prime truck that has featured in the first three movies.”

The first Transformers movie generated approximately $480 million in revenues for Hasbro. Not a bad summer?s work.
