Tri scores with RFU

CPLG Sport further bolsters licensing programme for Rugby Football Union.

Tri Distribution is the latest partner to sign up to produce branded Rugby Football Union product.

CPLG Sport secured the deal for the firm to create a new line of England Rugby branded apparel.

The company already produces apparel under licence for the Welsh Rugby Union and South African Rugby Football Union. Its agreement with RFU will see it developing a range of outerwear for men, women and children.

"As one of the biggest sporting brands in the world, we are thrilled to be adding England Rugby to our extensive portfolio, which already includes Wales and The Springboks," said Simon Skene, director at Tri. "The team's huge fanbase means that demand for England apparel is always high and we are confident of a strong performance at retail."

Sophie Goldschmidt, RFU chief commercial officer, added: "This new partnership builds on England Rugby's strong existing presence in the apparel sector, and we are very pleased to be partnering with a market leader such as Tri."

The RFU licensing programme includes over 35 partners across categories such as accessories, publishing, gift, toys, games and interactive.

"The licensing community is increasingly aware of the huge commercial potential that exists for the England Rugby brand leading up to the Rugby World Cup in 2015," said CPLG's sales and retail director, Tim Juckes.
