Turner has acquired the broadcasting rights to no fewer than ten Star Wars movies, including last year’s blockbuster Star Wars: The force Awakens.

This year’s standalone Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the next three yet to be released titles as well as five of the six previous Star Wars films all fall under the terms of the deal.

The roster is the result of a domestic licensing deal with The Walt Disney Studios in what has been billed as ‘the biggest movie package sold to ad-supported TV networks.’

Furthermore, Turner has secured the rights to the only Star Wars movie not controlled by Lucasfilm or Disney: Star Wars: A News Hope through a separate agreement with 20th Century Fox.

While Turner and Walt Disney Studios have not offered comment on the licensing deal, Deadline writes that sources estimate the ten title package to be priced in the region of $200 million.

As it stands the package only covers ad-supported on-demand rights, not commercial-free SVOD rights, which are part of Disney’s deals with Starz for The Force Awakens and Netflix for the next Star Wars films.

Turner will kick off the Star Wars run with a six nigh marathon on TNT featuring the first six movies starting from September 20th.

The titles will also air in December, coinciding with Disney’s release of Rogue One: A Star Wars story, while Star Wars: The force Awakens will make its TNT debut in early 2018.
