A second series of live action comedy series My Spy Family will begin filming in July.
Aimed at six to 12 year-olds and due to air on Boomerang, the series will include 20x22-minute episodes and continues the partnership between Turner Broadcasting and Kindle Entertainment (the indie which emerged from the closure of ITV Productions, Kids). Decode Enterprises will retain the distribution rights.
The show bolsters Turner’s commitment to homegrown content – it is filmed in Leeds – following a raft of recent commissions including Go and Be A Grown Up for Cartoonito and Skatoony for Cartoon Network.
“My Spy Family has been a focal part of Boomerang’s live action strategy since we committed to the genre in September 2007,” said Cecilia Persson, VP of programming, acquisition and presentation for Turner Kids. “As we strive to attract a broader audience to the channel, we are especially proud to bring our fans 20 brand new episodes. We are delighted to be working alongside some exceptional British talent and producing a show that really resonates with British audiences.”
The remaining 13 episodes of series one will premiere on Boomerang from today (March 25th).
