The live-action TV series for four to six year olds, Ha Ha Hairies, will air on Australian TV.

It's part of a major deal involving three properties that licensor DHX Media has struck with ABC TV Australia.

The TV channel will air Ha Ha Hairies season one, Rastamouse season two and a renewal of Grandpa in my Pocket's first season.

Ha Ha Hairies is a live-action series with animated elements that follows the fun-loving family the Ha Ha Hairies. It "brings a contemporary makeover to classic silent movie clowning and mime routines to delight young viewers today".

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has picked up the exclusive free-to-air rights to all three shows for broadcast later this year.

DHX Media has worldwide TV, home entertainment rights and North American licensing rights to the Turner Broadcasting-commissioned 52-episode series Ha Ha Hairies, produced by Adastra Creative, the team behind hit CBeebies show Grandpa in my Pocket.

Rastamouse is already a proven success with fans in Australia and ABC has added a further 26 episodes to its roster.

Grandpa in My Pocket is also one of the highest-rating shows on CBeebies in the UK. It has been sold to broadcasters worldwide.

Barbara Uecker, ABC TV Children’s Head of Programming and Acquisitions, said: "We are thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with DHX through this acquisition deal.

"Their high quality content is a perfect addition to our line-up of diverse shows on offer on ABC3 and ABC4Kids."

Josh Scherba, SVP, Distribution at DHX Media, added: "Rastamouse, Ha Ha Hairies and Grandpa in my Pocket are three very different shows which highlight the unique mix of stand-out properties in our portfolio.

"We are thrilled that ABC continues to support DHX and our brands and that these show will be seen by new audiences in such a key territory."
