Union Square Music unveils new division

Union Square Music has launched a new division, USM Media, for media supported and branded album projects.

The new division will include a new label USM Jr for children’s releases. The firm has acquired the rights to certain assets of Gut TV, including the rights to brands and compilations including LazyTown, Fifi and the Flowertots, My Favourite TV Themes and The Complete Halloween Party Album.

Karen Meekings, former MD at GTV has been appointed general manager of the new division. Meekings, an experienced industry professional was formerly at Universal, Sony and EMI before setting up GTV in 2005.

Meekings has been responsible for creating and marketing a long line of compilations and branded albums, enjoying particular success with her children’s projects and strategic marketing partnerships.

Initial releases include ‘Wellbeing’, a deluxe 3CD plus DVD to be released in association with brand partner SpaFinder and ‘Freefonix’ music from the top rated CBBC TV series produced by Magnus Fiennes. As with all USM Media projects, the albums will be launched with a comprehensive marketing and PR campaign.
