The deal will see Bendon Publishing develop a series of educational books compatible with Cold Fusion Entertainment’s Cypher device.
The licensing firm’s device narrates voice-over or sound effects when placed over a word or picture, allowing children to listen the pronunciation or meaning of a word and hear characters speak.
The first Cypher compatible books are expected to launch in 2009.
David Elmekies, president and CEO, Cold Fusion, said: “Cypher brings an easy to use, interactive component to a variety of educational activities, and provides a richer experience that today’s tech-savvy children love.
“Bendon Publishing has a phenomenal scope of products and we’re excited to partner with them on an innovative educational Cypher line.”
Ben Ferguson, president of Bendon Publishing, added: “A key part of our corporate philosophy is to listen to our customers and give them what they want. Today’s children are growing up with more technology than ever and by combining Cypher with our award-winning books, we can deliver a uniquely new educational experience.”
Bendon Publishing produces a wide product range including colouring and activity books, education workbooks, flash cards and pop-up books. It holds licensing agreements for Angelina Ballerina, Bob The Builder, Garfield, Hello Kitty and Winnie the Pooh, among others.
