US: Galleon tags Zizzle

Firm grabs US distribution rights for Skunk Fu toy merchandise.

Galleon is continuing to push on with its ambitious plans for its Skunk Fu property - inking its first distribution deal in the US with Zizzle Toys.

The deal - which was brokered by Galleon's North American licensing agency, The Sharpe Company - means Zizzle has the exclusive rights to distribute Skunk Fu toy merchandise in the US.

The show has been garnering strong ratings on kids network Cartoon Network US, where it airs up to three times a day, and CW Television Network's Saturday morning Kids' WB animation block.

The toy line has been developed by Croco Worldwide, Galleon's toy division, and was launched at Licensing International in New York by Sharpe.

"We're thrilled to have been chosen to bring Skunk Fu to the US," said Roger Shiffman, president and CEO at Zizzle. "The success the television show has had on the Cartoon Network right out of the blocks is unprecedented.

"The characters and comedic play lend themselves to a long-term franchise opportunity. We're confident that pairing Zizzle's product and marketing expertise, The Sharpe Company's stellar licensng and Croco's product, we are creating a recipe for success."

Charlie Day, president of The Sharpe Company, added: "Zizzle is an anchor partner in the development of the licensing programme for Skunk Fu. We are in active discussions with book publishers, interactive game manufacturers, back to school, apparel and gift companies."
