A pair of The Gruffalo animated films will be broadcast on Sprout TV in the US this December.
These include The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child produced by Magic Light Pictures.
24-hour pre-school TV channel Sprout will air the movies back-to-back on Saturday, December 22nd, Wednesday, December 26th and Thursday, December 27th.
The special event broadcast tops off a successful year for The Gruffalo franchise, including a merchandise launch at FAO Schwartz, DVD sales tipping half a million copies, and book sales up 60 per cent on the previous year.
Michael Rose, co-founder at Magic Light Pictures, explained: "We’re very excited to be working with Sprout to bring The Gruffalo franchise to American kids in 2012, and hope it becomes a perennial holiday favorite."
In early 2013 The Gruffalo Live Show will tour major towns in North America, from Tampa to Torrance.
A new merchandise website has gone live over at http://www.gruffalo.us/
