US: Nickelodeon programming team strengthened

Global acquisitions and international programming new hires bolster network.

Viacom International Media Networks has confirmed a brace of new Nickelodeon programming appointments.

Layla Lewis (pictured) has joined the company in the role of VP of content acquisitions for Nickelodeon. Lewis will be responsible for negotiating, sourcing and managing content acquisitions for Nickelodeon channels globally. She joins the firm from Turner International's Hong Kong office, where she was responsible for the development, planning and execution of its regional Asia Pacific acquisitions strategies.

In addition, Shannon Friedrichs Higdon has been promoted to VP, content and brand management for Nickelodeon International, managing the development and execution of the firm's international programming strategy.

Friedrichs Higdon joined Nickelodeon International in 2011 as senior director, program planning and brand management.

"With these two strong executives in place, we are poised to continue building on Nickelodeon's strong momentum internationally," said Jules Borkent, SVP, global acquisitions and international programming for Nickelodeon, VIMN.
