Taffy Entertainment has signed a deal with Atlantyca Entertainment's newly established content publishing division to produce a novelty book loosely based on the animated kids' TV show, Code Lyoko.

The deal marks the first licensing pact for Atlantyca's new division, which expects to develop additional popular entertainment properties into novel books, with plans to publish approximately 50 products annually, according to chairman Pietro Marietti.

Atlantyca will create a series of four books for Code Lyoko, the first of which is due to be available from early 2009.

"Code Lyoko has been on the air for four seasons in many territories and features a rich and interesting back story, making these novelty books a natural extension of the brand," said Cynthia Money, president of worldwide consumer products and marketing at Taffy.

"Atlantyca has a wealth of experience on their team and a passion for developing great content, so we believe this series is an ideal brand for them as they launch this new venture."

Atlantyca's Marietti added: "Taffy is certainly a natural first partner for us; we are excited to be continuously growing in our relationship with them and anxious to bring the Code Lyoko signature characters to life in a whole new range of stories."
