Turner CN Enterprises is pushing ahead with ambitious plans in the pre-school category, exhibiting under its Cartoonito channel banner at this week's Licensing International showcase.
Cartoonito is the most widely distributed pre-school TV channel in the EMEA region. It launched in the UK in 2007, and less than 12 months since a wider EMEA roll out began, Cartoonito's programming now reaches 136 million households in 112 territories. A surge in readership has been seen in the UK, Spain and Italy.
"Cartoonito has quickly established its credentials as a hub of fun and imaginative entertainment for pre-schoolers and their parents," said Michael Carrington, chief content officer, Turner EMEA Kids Media Group. "Now the full scale EMEA roll out of the channel is firmly underway, the time is right to take our pre-school strategy to the next level and present the vast commercial potential of Cartoonito brands on the international stage."
The line-up is lead by LazyTown - series three is in production, compising 13 half hour episodes which will air across Europe in Q1 2013. The new series will see lead characters Sportacus and a brand new Stephanie sporting a variety of gadgets, accessories and vehicles. These include communication devices, action spectacles, sports gadgets, a glider and a bike.
A renewed style guide is being developed, with the first licensed product lines based on the new LazyTown series launching in Q4 2013.
In addition, TCNE's third party pre-school brands will also be strongly represented - these include Bananas in Pyjamas, Ha Ha Hairies and Jelly Jamm.
