Viacom rebrands MTV Hits as NickMusic, a 24 hour music channel for kids

Viacom is rebranding its cable channel MTV Hits to NickMusic, a 24-hour music video destination for kids.

The new NickMusic will feature a Nickelodeon-curated lineup of music videos with a variety of kids’ favourite artists across a number of genres.

The new launch is scheduled to take place on September 9th this year, following which NickMusic will introduce artist-hosted programming blocks, branded segements such as Videos We Heart and Bumpin’ Beats, as well as long-form concert specials.

According to Variety, the channel will also feature guest DJ sins by Nickelodeon stars, Nick-branded entertainment and celebrity interviews.

NickMusic marks the second recent rebrand under the Viacom umbrella following the rebranding of VH1 Classic to MTV Classic, the home of popular 90s series such as Beavis and Butthead and Daria.
