The interestingly named children’s series, The Adventures of Voopa the Goolash, will air in nine territories as of September 2008, after causing a wave of interest at MIPTV.

Mediaset Italy, TV7 Bulgaria and Content Union Russia are just three of the broadcasters which signed deals for the first series of 13 episodes, written by Charles Hodges, well known author of Shaun the Sheep and Dennis the Meance.

Distributed by UK firm, The Production Team, the CGI animation series was conceived in South Africa and produced in New Zealand. The story centres around the desirable values of care of the environment, one another, the power of cause and effect and the ability to both create and destroy.

The production of an additional 26 episodes is intended to further licensing and merchandising opportunities.

Joel Churcher, international sales director of The Production Team, said: “Voopa the Goolash is an innovative unique show, that provides something different for TV broadcasters and we are very excited at the deals we’ve signed with many more in the pipeline.”
