Random House Children's Screen Entertainment has revealed that Channel 5's Milkshake has picked up Wanda and the Alien.
The deal marks the first book-to-screen transfer for RHCSE, which is a full service production house created by the children's publisher and Komixx Entertainment.
Based on the series of books about a little girl rabbit who meets an alien, Wanda and the Alien is authored by Sue Hendra.
Already in pre-production, RHCSE is producing 52 ten-minute programmes using flash animation. The first episode is scheduled for broadcast in Q4 2013.
"Wanda and the Alien is absolutely delightful and is sure to capture the imagination of our young audience," said Jessic Symons, head of children's at Channel 5. "It will be a wonderful addition to Milkshake's superb line-up of top pre-school programmes and we're thrilled to be working with RHCSE on their first book-to-screen transfer."
Andrew Cole Bulgin, partner and head of film and TV at RHCSE, added: "We're thrilled to be working with Channel 5 to bring Wanda to a wider audience."
