Random House Children's Screen Entertainment has scored its first book-to-screen transfer, with Wanda and the Alien set to air on Channel 5's Milkshake from August 30th.
Based on the best selling children's books by Sue Hendra, the adventures of a little girl rabbit who befriends an alien will be broadcast in 52 ten-minute episodes every Saturday and Sunday at 8.25am.
In each programme, Wanda and Alien celebrate their differences and share magical moments and adventures through their friendship.
Wanda and the Alien is also the first children's programme for Mackinnon & Saunders digital studio.
"We are very excited to launch Wanda and the Alien to our Milkshake audience," said Jessica Symons, head of children's at Channel 5. "We are strongly committed to this wonderful show. The characters are so charming with funny and engaging storylines that we know pre-schoolers will just love."
Andrew Cole-Bulgin, partner and head of film and TV at RHCSE, added: "Wanda and the Alien is a beautiful property, with a real sense of magic and wonder at the world.
"We wanted to do justice to Sue Hendra's original books so we've invested in the UK's best writing and animation talent to create a series that will delight audiences worldwide."
