Warner names The LEGO Movie, runs fan competition

Fans encouraged to record a short video clip which could feature in the 2014 animated film.

The 3D computer animated LEGO movie from Warner Bros. has been officially named... The LEGO Movie.

The film, which features the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman and more, hits cinemas on February 7th, 2014.

Warner Bros. has now revealed the name, logo (pictured) and details of a 'ReBrick' competition.

From today (March 25th), LEGO fans registered worldwide on http://rebrick.com can create and submit a 15 to 30 second video clip based on The LEGO Movie's story. And the winning video could be featured in the actual film.

The fan-produced clips will relate to a movie scene, where the citizens of the LEGO universe rally to prevent a disaster. They do this by disassembling their environments, brick by brick, and rebuilding them into "fantastic and fun hybrid vehicles and tools, like rocket/dragons, to take part in an epic battle".

Using only LEGO bricks and non-licensed LEGO minifigures, contestants can create and upload their video to YouTube, then bookmark it on the rebrick.com Building Challenge page.

The 25 videos earning the most "Likes" will ultimately be reviewed for creativity, originality, theme and suitability for the film by a panel of judges, including Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, writers/directors of The LEGO Movie.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, for a VIP Tour; a meeting with the directors, to participate in a LEGO build; an exclusive LEGO film camera designed and built by the official LEGO model shop; plus souvenir items from the movie's set, signed by the designers. 

The winning entry may also be edited into the film's big battle sequence. Other prizes include tickets for a studio tour, The LEGO Movie merchandise and more.
