Wes Craven to direct Scream TV pilot for MTV

Iconic horror director Wes Craven will direct the pilot for MTV's upcoming Scream TV series.

As well as directing all four Scream movies, Craven was also behind the camera for The Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

The Scream TV show will follow a series of gruesome murders triggered by a YouTube video going viral.

The teenage characters involved include Harper Duval, a girl who popular but 'a little too introverted and intellectual to be a social butterfly' and Audrey Jensen, the 'bi-curious daughter of a Lutheran pastor'.

Also in the main group is the tech savvy Noah Foster who possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of books, films, TV and apps and Margaret 'Maggie' Duval, the mother of Harper who is harbouring a dark secret from her past.

MTV's Scream will land on TV screens in 2015.
