Woolworths shuffles commercial team

Batchelor takes over licensing and entertainment after Hall?s Hong Kong move.

Following Jo Hall’s move over to MD of Woolworths Group Asia, the High Street retailer now has a new commercial structure.

Hall was formerly commercial director at Woolworths with responsibility for toys, events and confectionery. She has been over in Hong Kong since August, working in her newly created role following the merging of Woolworths’ global sourcing department and Woolworths Group Asia into one function.

Back in the UK and the toy department is now being headed up by Nick Hill, who reports directly to managing director Tony Page. Hall’s other commercial responsibilities have now been taken on by Jim Batchelor who is head of commercial, which covers entertainment, confectionery, home, stationery and licensing.

Woolworths is the market leader for licensed product in the UK and the largest retailer of licensed merchandise in Europe. Toys, entertainment and clothing lead the retailer’s interest, although all departments feature licensing as key to their strategy.




According to NPD research, between June 2005 and June 2006 Woolworths was the top destination for licensed product.
