WWE has lifted the lid on its rebranding when it unveiled a new logo to tie in with its digital network.

The organisation’s fourth rebranding since 1982 when it operated as World Wrestling Federation, the new logo will roll out over the upcoming weeks, reports Variety.

Rebranding will commence when the new look begins appearing on WWE’s Raw and SmackDown shows, airing on USA Network and Syfy, as well as on its championship belts, products, websites and more.

WWE’s chairman and CEO Vince McMahon tweeted the new look – a more modern logo with sharper edges – after raising a flag emblazoned with the new logo over the firm’s US headquarters.

The logo is the same image that debuted in January when the firm launched its digital WWE Network.

"The new logo is a representation of the evolution of the WWE brand," said McMahon.

"It represents everything we want to say to the marketplace.

"Everything form the hard edges to the sleek expresses a contemporary feel and demonstrates that we're always looking ahead. It was really important to capture the core of the WWE."
