Yo-Kai Watch grows global reach with Disney XD Latin America broadcast deal

Japanese animé phenomenon Yo-Kai Watch is continuing its plans for global success with a new broadcast deal on Disney XD across Latin America.

Family entertainment programming firm, MarVista Entertainment has now secured a pan-regional broadcasting deal on the Disney XD channel across the region.

The series – that has already broke ratings and retail records across Japan – will now premiere this June across all five Disney XD Latin American feeds, reaching Mexico, Central America, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay.

Episodes of Yo-Kai Watch will air on weekdays, Monday through to Friday, with episodes repeated at the weekend.

“From the moment we first saw Yo-Kai Watch we knew it was going to be a global sensation,” said Fernando Szew, CEO of MarVista Entertainment.

“Launching this phenomenal series on Disney XD throughout Latin America is the ideal scenario for us and we couldn’t be happier. We are looking forward to continuing Yo-Kai Watch’s spectacular momentum.”

Launched two years ago in japan, Yo-Kai watch continues to be the top-rated animated show for kids aged four to 12 on TV Tokyo.

The franchise has sold over $2 billion in merchandise in its first 15 months in Japan alone, while in the US the property has been seeing steadily increasing game sales and the Hasbro toy line has been a top ten seller.
