eOne expands Peppa Pig across Russia and Ukraine with Megalicense International

Entertainment One is increasing its foothold in Russia and Ukraine as Megalicense International signs to represent Peppa Pig across the region.

The popular pre-school animation already airs on Russia’s number one dedicated children’s TV channel, Karusel and PlusPlus in the Ukraine.

Megalicense will now oversee the development of the brand, as the firm reports increased demand for official licensed merchandise in these markets.

Rosman has signed to develop toy, publishing and arts and crafts lines across Russia, while Kiddisvit will deliver toys to the Ukraine. Rosman is now planning a mass-market, television advertising campaign in October this year with own brand products including plush, wooden toys, bath toys and collectible products.

Further early adopters to the Peppa license across the territory include Panini, Perfetti Van Melle for confectionery and Alisa for E.L.A.

Kidstime will deliver branded watches while Hamley’s has committed to a programme of retail promotions in the run up to Christmas.

Apparel, footwear, accessories, housewares and publishing will be added in 2015.

Andrew Carley, head of global licensing at Entertainment One, said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Megalicense Interantional to the eOne family.

“I am in no doubt that they will identify new opportunities for the brand and that Peppa will benefit from its extensive experience of the Russian and Ukranian markets.”

CEO of Megalicense International, Friderico Gatti, added: “we are proud to have been selected by eOne. We plan to develop and position Peppa Pig as one of the leading properties in our territory.”
