eOne looking to ramp up licensing programme for Nativity 3

Entertainment One is now looking for a raft of licensing partners for British film property, Nativity – with the third film in the series due to hit cinemas in November.

The first Nativity movie – released in 2009 – netted £5,300,000 at the UK box office, while the 2012 sequel – Danger in the Manger – almost doubled its cinema takings to £9,200,000.

Nativity 2 was released on DVD at the end of 2013 and combined DVD sales of both films have already surpassed one million copies.

Nativity 3: Dude, Where’s My Donkey will be released in November and will star Martin Clunes, Catherine Tate and Celia Imrie among others.

eOne is now seeking licensing partners in categories including publishing, gifts and accessories, apparel and promotions.

"Nativity has proved its popularity with British audiences through strong box office receipts and high volume DVD sales which demonstrate widespread brand awareness for the franchise in the UK," said Hannah Mungo, head of UK licensing at eOne.

"With the third movie set for release in Christmas 2014, this wholesome family entertainment property has all the hallmarks of a perennial Christmas classic and the increasing consumer demand we’re seeing at retail for novelty seasonal products make this an unmissable licensing opportunity."
