Facebook readies for Star Wars: The Force Awakens with new lightsaber feature

In a partnership with Disney, the platform has launched the initiative as the countdown to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens this Thursday, December 17th continues to excite fans.

In celebration of the big day, the official Star Wars Facebook account – featuring an image of Finn (John Boyega) clasping his lightsaber – has built a tool allowing fans to ‘Awaken the Force within’ by adding their own to their picture.’

While Luke Skywalker had to travel all the way to Dagobah to receive his own, all you need to do to pick up a lightsaber this week is click the ‘Try Me’ button on the page.

You can even pick your side with the option of either Finn’s blue lightsaber or Kylo Ren’s hilted red lightsaber.
