The first ever CGI Miffy series, Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small, is set to launch at this year’s MIP Junior and MIPCOM.
Mercis BV and Telescreen BV/m4e will use the shows to announce the sales launch of the new TV series which is now in production and set to hit screens in autumn 2015.
Featuring 52 new stories of seven minutes, the new series is the CGI animated sequel to Miffy and Friends which aired in more than 70 countries from 2003.
Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small will feature new children’s voices, new characters and locations and the show will be ‘faster paced and have more expressive animation’ than the previous series.
“We are is delighted with this new series in which Miffy is thoroughly modern and more adorable than ever," said Frank Padberg, producer at Mercis.
"Blue-Zoo has been able to recreate the same warmth and beautiful atmosphere of the previous stop motion series. The images look incredibly crisp, whilst the stories are full of action and genuinely fun. With Miffy celebrating her 60th birthday next year, this series will introduce the character to a whole new generation.”
Adam Shaw, director at Blue-Zoo, added: “The idea of Blue-Zoo’s creative talent working on Miffy – such an iconic heritage character – was just too good to be true. This new CGI series embraces the charm of Dick Bruna’s artwork and follows Miffy through imaginative and fun stories.
"We will be implementing state of the art animation techniques to bring a quality to the screen never seen before. Without doubt, this is going to be a massive hit”
The TV and home entertainment rights of Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small will be distributed by Telescreen BV in Europe, Middle East and South America.
Distribution in all other territories will be done by Mercis B.V.
Miffy will be at MIP Junior from October 10th to 12th and at MIPCOM (Booth R7.H3) from October 13th to 16th.
