Fox and Disney insiders spur rumours of another Simpsons movie

A second feature-length Simpsons film is reportedly in development at 20th Century Fox, as well as big screen releases for Family Guys and Bob’s Burgers.

The Wall Street Journal has cited insiders saying that Fox and Disney would partner for a slate of films including a “big screen adaptation of the animated series Bob’s Burgers, a second Simpsons movie in development and a Family Guy film that would mix animation with live action.”

The Simpsons Movie was released 11 years in 2007, while the TV series has just entered its 30th season in the US. The Simpsons became the longest-running scripted programme in American history when its 636th episode aired in late April.

The same article has also suggested that after Fox is absorbed into Disney following last month’s £71 billion merger, Fox’s filmmaking arm, 20th Century Fox, could be ‘drastically downsized’, but that films currently in the works wouldn’t be affected.
