Disney, Universal and DreamWorks in running for Best Animated Feature

Frozen and Despicable Me 2 receive Oscar nominations

The Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature have been revealed, and Disney, Universal and DreamWorks Animations are in the running.

The five films competing for the Oscar are Disney’s Frozen, DreamWorks Animations’ The Croods, Universal’s Despicable Me 2, Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises and La Parti Productions’ Ernest & Celestine.

Frozen could well be seen as a frontrunner following its Golden Globe win, but the other nominees have also picked up awards in the run up to the Oscars.

Despicable Me 2 won a People’s Choice Award for Favourite Family Movie, The Wind Rises picked up the Best Animated Feature Award from the New York Film Critics Circle while Ernest & Celestine won the Cesar Award (French equivalent of the Oscars) for Best Animated Film.
