Disney’s Frozen has topped the UK box office on debut weekend, reports Screen.
The animation prevented The Hunger Games: Catching Fire from a third week at number one.
Frozen debuted with £4.7m, with 60 per cent coming from 2D screenings.
This marks an improvement on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ other 2013 movie, Wreck-It Ralph, which opened with £4.5m before going on to reach a total of £23.7m.
However, Frozen’s debut is behind previous Disney efforts Tangled, with £5.1m, and Bolt, with £5.4m.
Frozen’s position at the top is threatened this coming weekend by the arrival of Warner Bros’ The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
