Disney film wins Best Animated Film and Best Original Song

Frozen triumphs at Oscars

Disney’s Frozen picked up two Oscars at last night’s Academy Awards.

Frozen won an Oscar for Best Animated Film, beating the likes of DreamWorks Animations’ The Croods, Universal’s Despicable Me 2, Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises and La Parti Productions’ Ernest & Celestine.

The film also picked up a statuette for Best Original Song for ‘Let It Go’, composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The song won ahead of Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ as heard in Despicable Me 2.

This double win continues Frozen’s good form at award ceremonies, following Best Animated Film wins at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs.

Songs in the film have proved popular outside of Academy voters, with the Frozen album having sold more than one million units and 3.4 million tracks worldwide and it has also reached the number one spot in more than 30 countries on iTunes.
