Underground Toys and others on board; show prop exhibition announced.

Game of Thrones signs new licensees ahead of Season Three

Fantasy novel saga Game of Thrones is set to benefit from a growing licensing programme for 2013.

New product releases from licensor HBO include Trademark Products, Elbenwald, Abysee Corp, Danilo and Pyramid.

Underground Toys has also secured UK rights to several gift items including mugs, keyrings, bags, glassware, notebooks, bookmarks, coasters and magnets, which are due to launch this year.

"Further licences are in negotiation and will be announced later in the year," read a statement.

The news comes as Season Three of the HBO TV series prepares to return to Sky Atlantic UK on Monday, April 1st at 9pm – less than 24 hours after it debuts in the US.

The ten-episode season will then rollout across Europe on TNT Serie and RTL2 in Germany, Sky Italia in Italy, Canal+ in Spain, SyFy in Portugal and Orange CineMax in France.

The Game of Thrones Season Two DVD and Blu-ray box sets also launched this week in the UK, featuring observations from the actors, producers, and Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin.

Game of Thrones Season One was the best-selling DVD on TV title last year, and projected shipments for Season Two are even greater.

Furthermore, HBO has organised a Game of Thrones international touring exhibition for fans, featuring costumes, props, armour and weapons from the series.

Exhibitions will take place in Toronto, New York, Sao Paulo, Amsterdam, and Belfast. Admission is free.
