Game of Thrones star Iain Glen to guest star in Nella the Princess Knight Christmas special

Iain Glen, who portrays the exiled knight Jorah Mormont in HBO’s Game of Thrones will be swapping Dragonstone for Castlehaven in Nella the Princess Knight’s Christmas special this Friday on Nick Jr.

Glen will lend his voice to Santa in the special episode, The Knight Before Christmas, joining the eight-year-old heroine who also has a penchant for fire-breathing dragons.

In the episode, Santa visits Castlehaven on Christmas Eve, but when naughty snow dragons take his sack of presents, it’s up to Nella and her friends to go on a quest to save the day before morning.

“My four year old is obsessed with Nella the Princess Knight!" enthused the actor. "I do think that this is a particularly lovely show and I’ve really enjoyed being a part of it. I’m not planning on telling my daughter, so I’ll see if she realises that it’s me playing Santa when we sit down to watch it in December.”

Robert Vargas (Zack and Quack) serves as an executive producer on Nella the Princess Knight and the series is created by Christine Ricci (Blaze and the Monster Machines, Dora the Explorer). It is the newest show to join Nick Jr.’s top-ranked pre-school properties, airing alongside Blaze and the Monster Machines, Digby Dragon, PAW Patrol and Shimmer and Shine.

An extensive consumer products line for Nella the Princess Knight will roll out in January 2018 with master toy partner Vivid across key UK retailers.

Online at, parents and children can meet the characters, discover activities, watch clips and sing along to the theme tune. The official app ‘Nella the Princess Knight: Kingdom Adventures’ can be downloaded from the iTunes store and Google Play. The game leans on princess-and-knight heroine Nella to inspire girl empowerment, self-confidence, resilience and compassion among players.

This December Nick Jr. will be counting down to Christmas with festive giveaways across the channel as well as airing festive episodes of Blaze and the Monster Machines, PAW Patrol and Peppa Pig throughout the month.
