GIRLS MONTH: My Little Pony remains on top for Hasbro

Hasbro is continuing to build on its classic My Little Pony property – introduced nearly 30 years ago, over 100 million ponies have been sold since the brand launched in 1983.

My Little Pony was the top girls brand in the play-set themed figurines and accessories category (source: NPD, September 2012), with Hasbro now targeting even further growth.

MLP has a global presence in 71 countries, with key markets being the US, UK, Russia, Latin America (with Mexico being the largest), France, Canada, Poland, Italy and Australia.

Key categories include Hasbro developed toys, licensed toys, apparel, accessories and role-play, publishing, DVDs, digital gaming, home décor and consumables.

There are over 200 licensees for My Little Pony.

The most recent addition is the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic game from Gameloft, which has had over 5.4 million downloads to date. The next game update will mirror the second season of the TV show – Canterlot Wedding. The game will feature 40 new quests, ten new ponies and mini games.
