The up and coming character creation studio, Tokyo Tiger has tapped Golden Goose to both manage the licensing programme for its social media personality Aunty Acid, as well as develop its raft of other characters for the licensing space.
Together, the pair will work to develop new IP for UK retailers.
Aunty Acid currently engages with 500,000 people a week via its 11.6 million social media fanbase, building on a platform of 5,000 comic panels that have been billed as ‘perfect for licensees in giftable categories.’
“We are very excited to be working closely with this new social media and character powerhouse, firstly to manage Aunty Acid, but also to leverage the Tokyo Tiger team’s expertise to develop intellectual property for UK retailers,” said Adam Bass, director of Golden Goose.
“Our first priority will be to build out the Aunty Acid licensing programme, starting with a UK greetings card licensee.”
Tokyo Tiger’s catalogue of characters spans not only Aunty Acid, but also the likes of Bubblegum, Goochicoo, Grumpy Old Gits, Scarlett and Crimson and Sugalumps.
“The team has an extensive history of character development that delivers significant sales at retail across multiple categories,” added Ged Backland, Tokyo Tiger creative director.
“It is a natural progression to develop new intellectual property for retailers looking for a substantial social media presence and a saleable point of difference.”
