Golden Goose snaps up vintage home electronics brand PYE

Vintage home electronics brand PYE has appointed Golden Goose as its exclusive agency as it looks to make in-roads into the licensing arena.

Founded in 1896, PYE manufactured the first wireless receivers in time to receive the BBC’s first ever broadcasts in 1922 and later, in 1937, started selling five-inch television.

PYE also developed an extensive range of small and portable record players, selling large quantities during the vinyl boom of the 60s and 70s.

"The PYE brand is ripe for licensing," explained Jeroen Koster, PYE’s licensing director. "With the current trend for vintage and nostalgia which we are calling ‘Nowstalgia’, there is a real opportunity to develop a range of audio products that benefit from the iconic PYE brand and styling."

Adam Bass, director at Golden Goose, added: "At one point in the 70s, every teenager listened to records on their PYE record player. We are looking for licensees to develop home audio equipment and accessories that are true to the PYE brand’s famous design values and re-establish this classic British property."
