Hachette Children’s Group brings Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree to Yoto

The Hachette Children’s Group has partnered with Yoto to bring the audio recordings for Enid Blyton’s Magic Faraway Tree titles – read by Kate Winslet – to the digital device.

The Yoto product is a ‘clever speaker’ for pre-school and early year primary school aged children, which is designed to give them access to stories, music and learning that they control without the use of a screen.

The new partnership will include audio recordings of Enid Blyton’s The enchanted Wood in the Yoto starter pack, followed by inclusion of the two other core Magic Faraway Tree titles in the Yoto Library.

The Magic Faraway Tree is one of Enid Blyton’s most enduringly popular series, first published in the 1930s. The stories follow Joe, Beth, Frannie and Rick as they discover the magic Faraway Tree in the Enchanted Wood and embark on a series of adventures.

In the last ten years, over five million Magic Faraway Tree books have been sold in the UK and The Magic Faraway Tree is Enid Blyton’s best-selling individual title. A live-action feature film is in development with Studio Canal and Neal Street Productions.

Katie Price, licensing director at Hachette Children’s Group, said: “We are thrilled to be a part of this new and exciting venture from Yoto. This ‘clever speaker’ is extremely stylish and a brilliant option for children to access stories, music and learning without the use of a screen.”

Ben Drury, co-founder and CEO at Yoto, added: “It’s amazing to have Enid Blyton on the Yoto platform at launch and to have The enchanted Wood included in the Yoto Starter pack for all our customers and Kickstarter backers.

“Kate Winslet’s reading of the story is engaging, captivating and sounds great on Yoto.”
