Disney has revealed that a fifth film will be released during the summer of 2019.

Harrison Ford to return to screens as Indiana Jones in fifth film

A fifth instalment to the Indiana Jones franchise is set to hit screens in the summer of 2019, Disney has revealed.

The film will see Harrison Ford return as archaeologist Indiana Jones, while Steven Spielberg will direct the movie.

The next instalment comes 11 years after the fourth film that was released back in 2008, which saw Indie team up with his son in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Alan Horn, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, said in a statement: “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019.

"It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

President of LucasFilms Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce the new film.
