Hasbro’s profit from licensing arm grows 24%

Hasbro has seen its entertainment and licensing arm grow 24 per cent in 2012 in terms of operating profit.

Net revenues increased 12 per cent to $181.4 million, compared to $162.2 million in 2011.

The segment reported 24 per cent operating profit growth to $53.2 million, compared to $42.8 million in 2011.

"The segment continued to benefit from the sale of television programming in all formats in the US and internationally offset by lower movie-related revenues," read a statement.

The news comes as part of Hasbro’s full-year 2012 financial report, where it reported a slight drop in profit following "challenging" Christmas sales

Furby also boosts Hasbro’s girls business by seven per cent.
