Helen Dennis’ Secret Breakers book series secures TV deal with Sparticles

Hodder Children’s Books has secured a TV option deal for the middle-grade series Secret Breakers, written by Helen Dennis.

The deal has been struck between Hodder’s parent company Hachette Children’s Group and the production company Sparticles Productions.

Sparticles Productions is best-known for its CBBC series The Sparticle Mystery and has a reputation for producing ambitious live-action children’s drama.

First published in 2012, Secret Breakers is an award-winning six book adventure series featuring real-life unbreakable codes which the characters have to solve. The reader also cracks codes hidden within the text.

Karen Lawler, senior licensing manager at HCG, said: “Secret Breakers is an intricately plotted, fast-paced global thriller with brilliant characters at its heart. It’s the perfect project for TV development and is the latest example of the HCG licensing team’s expanding footprint in TV and film adaptation.

“Sparticles Productions is exactly the right partner for Secret Breakers and it’s exciting to discuss the ambitious plans they have even at this early stage.”

Helen Dennis, added: “I am delighted almost beyond words that a production company the calibre of Sparticles Productions has signed Secret breakers. It’s astonishing to think that an adventure story that began so many years ago as a puzzle in my mind will now be developed as a live-action TV series.

“I am grateful that they have absolutely understood the spirit of the series and I am looking forward to seeing their creative vision.”
