Hit celebrates 25 years of Barney

Hit Entertainment is kicking off a special social media campaign as part of the 25th birthday celebrations for Barney the dinosaur.

The Barney 25 Million Hugs drive will use various platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, plus a dedicated microsite, to allow fans to send interactive hugs from Barney to family, friends and followers.

The character has a goal of sharing 25 million hugs and Hit is promoting the official site, www.sharebarneyhugs.com.

"Barney has provided kids with fun and laughter for more than 25 years and has cemented his status as a pop culture icon who has always generously shared his love and hugs," said Shari Donnenfeld, VP, global brands, Hit Entertainment. "We are celebrating Barney by creating a playful avenue that taps into the Barney nostalgia for fans of any age, and we are excited to join with fans around the world to extend our arms and reach our goal of 25 million hugs."
