Enjoys one of the best UK debuts for DreamWorks Animation.

Home tops UK box office

Home, the latest from DreamWorks Animation, has debuted at the top of the UK box office.

Screen reports that Home topped the chart with £6m, one of the best debuts for DreamWorks Animation in the UK, ahead of Madagascar’s £5.43m opening and The Croods’ debut of £5.37m.

The film faces tough competition in keeping hold of the number one spot, as both Disney’s Cinderella and the second big screen adventure for Nickelodeon’s absorbent, yellow, porous superstar lands in cinemas.

Yes, Paramount’s The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water is out this Friday and has already made £680,000 in the UK thanks to previews held this past weekend.

Elsewhere, Cinderella boasts the added appeal of landing in screens this weekend accompanied by a new Frozen short film, Frozen Fever.
