Zoo York, one of the East Coast’s first skateboarding-inspired lifestyle brands, is landing in the Korean market, thanks to a new four-year licensing agreement signed with Iconix Brand Group and Sparks Glencoe Korea.
The deal will provide the Korean outfit with the exclusive rights to design, manufacture and market Zoo York apparel, footwear, underwear and accessories in Korea. Iconix acquired Zoo York in 2011, adding it to the firm’s portfolio of 30 brands.
“With skateboarding making its Olympic debut in 2020, it’s an ideal time for Iconix to expand the Zoo York brand internationally,” said Bob Galvin, chief executive officer and president of Iconix Brand Group, Inc. “Our new deal with FILA Korea is an extension of our already successful partnership with them on the Starter brand, which we launched earlier this year.”
Kevin Yoon, chief executive officer and president of KILA Korea, added: “We look forward to bringing an iconic skateboarding brand like Zoo York to Korea through our new agreement with Iconix.
“With the 2020 Olympics around the corner, there’s a great opportunity to cultivate the brand in our market. Zoo York is a wonderful addition to our portfolio of brands.”
