In the Night Garden’s IgglePiggle has set a new Guiness World Record for the unfurling of the largest-ever polar fleece blanket.
The record-breaking attempt was organised to celebrate the first anniversary of the In the Night Garden ride at CBeebies Land at Alton Towers.
The blanket stretched 98.8 metres squared and was produced by Dreamtex, the team behind the popular In the Night Garden Home Textile Collection.
The blanket – a representation of IgglePiggle’s favourite red and blue fleeced blanket took eight days to make and comes in at a hefty 20kg.
“We know that In the Night Garden is an integral part of little ones’ bedtime routines so we felt creating the world’s largest and brightest snuggly polar fleece blanket – as verified by Guiness World Records – was a fitting way to mark the first anniversary of the ride at Alton Towers,” said Victoria Bushell, VP of global brand management, DHX Media.
“The ride has been a huge success since it launched and has been visited by thousands of parents and children over the last 12 months.”
Anthony Duckworth, MD at Dreamtex, added: “We were delighted to be part of this Guiness World Records title attempt, it’s a little different to what we normally do. It was a big challenge, but great fun.”
